Recent malfunction is attributed to a "technical issue" by Bank of Ireland.

On Friday, Bank of Ireland (BoI) experienced another outage, with its mobile banking service unavailable for around four hours.

Customers were unable to use any of the bank's apps or websites starting around midday on Friday.

Additionally, because the verification process was broken, clients were unable to finish any online transactions with BoI credit cards.

According to a statement the bank sent on Friday afternoon, there was a "technical issue" that was not defined.

According to the statement, "We had to take it offline this afternoon while we fixed a technical issue." "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our customers may have experienced today."

 

In recent years, the bank has experienced several technical difficulties. Due to a "singificant technology outage" in August of last year, clients at BoI ATMs had to wait in line for long periods of time to withdraw money without having their accounts debited.

The country's finance minister, Michael McGrath, chastised the bank for "too many such instances in recent years" despite the rumour turning out to be false.

Additionally, BoI was fined €24.5 million in 2021 for having inadequate IT systems.
