Michiel Wielhouwer, who was formerly the Executive Director of Visa's operations in France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, was named President and Country Manager of Visa Canada today, the company revealed. He will take over for Stacey Madge, who held this position for the previous seven years.

Wielhouwer joins Visa Canada during a moment of expansion and promise, as the corporation, propelled by its fintech strategy and innovation, creates new, safe payment methods. Wielhouwer will carry out the company's mission to improve everyone, everywhere by becoming the greatest way to pay and be paid, all the while delivering value for Visa's principal customers, partners, and stakeholders.

Michiel Wielhouwer stated, "It is an honor to take on the position of President and Country Manager of Visa Canada. I intend to leverage my experience from my time spent in Europe to add value to our partners and the Visa business in this country." "I'm excited to collaborate with our outstanding team of Canadian workers as well as our robust network of industry partners and clients across the nation."

Wielhouwer has 22 years of expertise in five different regions and is a seasoned Visa employee. He provides Canada with leadership and in-depth knowledge of financial services. Wielhouwer, who speaks multiple languages and is originally from the Netherlands, is a welcome addition to the multicultural and multilingual Canadian market.

After Stacey Madge's successful tenure, Wielhouwer assumes the post. During Madge's seven years at the company, Visa Canada has expanded significantly thanks to new clientele, fintech partnerships, product advancements, and the quickening of money transfers. Canada has developed into a renowned payments leader in the nation and a Visa talent hub under her direction. Madge will be committing her skills to board, community, and foundation work in her upcoming chapter.

"I'm thrilled to hand over the reins to Michiel. The Canadian payments ecosystem will greatly respect his expertise and experience, according to Stacey Madge. "It has been a pleasure to work with a strong and talented team that supports him."

Kim Lawrence, Regional President of Visa for North America, stated, "Stacey is a respected leader in the Canadian payments industry and was instrumental in securing Visa's current position in the Canadian market." "We would like to express our gratitude for all of her contributions to our company and the Canadian market, and we wish her the best of luck as she starts her next chapter of board and foundation work."

"Our Canadian clients and Visa team will continue to thrive under his leadership," says Lawrence, "and Michiel is a fantastic addition to our North American team."
