Exclusive talks for a long-term payments collaboration have been initiated between Worldline and the Italian banking organization Cassa Centrale.
As part of the agreement, Worldline would handle acquisition and payment acceptance for Cassa Centrale's sixty-six bank affiliates.
More than 90,000 POS terminals will be supplied, managed, and exclusively acquired for international circuits as part of this project, which is expected to produce transacted volumes exceeding nine billion euros by 2023.
France's Worldline in Italy would benefit greatly from a cooperation, which would double the number of shops and terminals it has there.
The payments processor's stock fell last month when it revealed a net loss attributable to a €1.15 billion impairment charge in merchant services and a worsening outlook. Additionally, it implemented a cost-cutting initiative that eliminated 1400 jobs.
