Executive Director at Morgan Stanley and 11-year veteran Alex Grinfeld has joined a notable group of senior analysts and futures sales-traders who have joined Liquidnet since 2022 as the tech-focused agency execution specialist, well-known for its dark pools, expands its offering of listed derivatives globally.
Grinfeld held the position of Vice President for Futures and Derivatives Sales Trading at Goldman Sachs before moving to Morgan Stanley.
Alongside Brian Cashin, who joined Liquidnet in March 2022 after being hired from Bank of America, he will co-lead the company's rapidly expanding futures division in the Americas.
This is in response to the company's recent introduction of products like pre- and point-of-trade analytics, which assist automation and help traders make more informed decisions. In the past, banks have mostly supplied the purchase side with executions and solutions.
"Alex joins us at an exciting time in our journey; his extensive experience will be invaluable as we launch new technology and further develop our execution services," stated Mike du Plessis, Global Head of Listed Derivatives.
Similar moves were made in Europe, where the firm poached Darren Smith and Dan Noorian from UBS 18 months ago to head the Liquidnet Listed Derivatives team in London, which had just recently been formed. These senior additions in the US are a reflection of those actions. The two have a strong futures legacy, much like their Liquidnet Americas colleagues, having worked for the Swiss bank for about 15 years apiece.
