In the midst of a "ambitious growth and expansion strategy," Irish paytech company CleverCards has named former Edenred CEO Ray Brash as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Paul Carroll, who held the role for a year until departing the business in June, is replaced by Brash.
Speaking about his most recent employment, Brash says, "I am excited to be able to work for a business which puts the customer first rather than just the technology."
The hiring is being described as a “strategic move” by CEO Kealan Lennon, who launched CleverCards in 2011. This move will help the company grow.
The new COO leaves Flyfish, a paytech company located in the UK, where he was the CEO since June of last year.
Brash has worked with Edenred Payment Solutions, previously PPS, for about 20 years. Most recently, he had been the CEO and head of fintech.
Brash will continue to serve as an adviser and stakeholder at other fintech companies in addition to his new position at CleverCards. These companies include the AI-powered mortgage assistant Sprive, the integrated sustainability solutions provider ekko, and the treasury management platform Bond.
CleverCards, a Dublin-based company, specializes in digital payment solutions that let big businesses use virtual cards to pay their clients, staff, and suppliers. Through a Pluxee-led funding round, the fintech had earlier secured €8 million in June. To far, it has raised over €28 million.
