Gang Wang, formerly of Stripe's director of payment methods, has joined Canadian payments processor Nuvei as its new chief technology officer.
With Max Attias moving into the CIO position at Nuvei following nearly six years as CTO, Wang has been given the responsibility of heading the fintech's worldwide technology team.
As to the company's statement, the two would pool their teams' efforts to "build a strong foundation for future growth and further scale Nuvei's technology offering."
Wang is anticipated to enhance Nuvei's technology strategy, research, and architectural development by drawing on his "deep knowledge of the payments and software sectors."
Wang spent more than 13 years creating systems and architecture for US financial software giant Intuit before joining Stripe in 2021. There, he also held the post of head of financial data. Wang eventually rose to the rank of VP engineering fellow.
Wang "will definitely enable the broader technology team to thrive as we address the complexities of our industry with even more dedicated focus," according to Philip Fayer, CEO and chair of Nuvei.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) granted Nuvei a major payment institution (MPI) license last month. With the license, the business may now offer merchant acquisition services as well as local and international money transfers to what Fayer refers to as Nuvei's "critically important region" in an effort to spur the company's expansion.
