With effect from September 3, 2024, US fintech Fiserv has named Takis Georgakopoulos, the recently retired CEO of JP Morgan Payments, as senior adviser and executive vice president.
In addition, he will join the management committee of Fiserv. According to his new employer, he will work closely with the leadership team to promote "positive client outcomes."
After serving as JP Morgan's worldwide head of payments for the previous seven years, Georgakopoulos left the company a few weeks ago. At the time, he posted on LinkedIn, explaining that he had "decided to pursue a very exciting opportunity outside the firm."
Co-heads of JP Morgan's Commercial and Investment Bank Troy Rohrbaugh and Jennifer Piepszak credit him with making JP Morgan Payments "become one of the firm's biggest growth engines, increasing revenue and market share in a highly competitive environment."
Georgakopoulos advised banks and asset managers as a partner at the consulting company McKinsey & Company prior to his 17-year employment at JP Morgan.
Frank Bisignano, chairman, president, and CEO of Fiserv, commented on the company's recent hire, stating that Georgakopoulos' "extensive payments and leadership experience and operational expertise" will strengthen the company's leadership team.
Fiserv is a payments and banking technology firm that provides point-of-sale, global commerce, merchant acquisition, core and mobile banking solutions, and billing and payments services.
