Recently, the Miami, Florida-based business CyberNut came out of stealth. The business has unveiled a cutting-edge security awareness training platform created especially for the K–12 market.
Security Week reports that the company declared the end of a $800,000 pre-seed investment round. Transcend Network, Avalanche VC, and the Charter School Growth Fund spearheaded the investment.
CyberNut has developed a gamified, AI-powered training tool. Teachers, staff, faculty, and students will learn how to identify and report phishing attempts with the use of this tool. The business has customized its offering to meet the particular financial and operational requirements that schools have.
The money raised in this round will be put toward improving the platform's capabilities and growing its user base in the US. CyberNut wants school districts to have easier access to its cybersecurity training resources so they can reduce the risks of data breaches and cyberattacks.
Positive results from its deployment are already being observed by the organization. It presently works with fifty school districts, and evaluations suggest that its training greatly enhances users' capacity to recognize phishing emails and quickly report suspicious activity.
Oliver Page, the CEO and co-founder of CyberNut, made a statement on the pressing need to address digital safety in schools. As a proponent of digital safety in the classroom, Page said, "I cannot stress enough the immense risk that data breaches pose to our students." In addition to the possible financial hardship, identity theft can have a negative psychological impact on adolescents as early as middle or high school. A single phishing attack has the potential to cause a school or district to lose millions of dollars in damages and compromising the personal information of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of pupils.
Page said, "We use gamification to turn cybersecurity instruction into an interesting, empowering training experience. It's an unusual but successful technique.
