Vancity, purportedly the biggest community credit union in Canada, has inked a seven-year contract with Intellect Design Arena, an Indian software behemoth, to utilize multiple digital banking solutions offered by the vendor.

The vendor's Contextual Banking Experience (CBX) and Digital Engagement Platform (DEP) will be used by the credit union to improve its digital services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and retail, respectively, as well as to modernize its commercial digital operations.

Vancity's digital transformation activities are anticipated to include interaction across payments and transfers, cards, onboarding, back office, current and savings accounts, and digital lending with the adoption of the two technologies, made possible by a fully managed cloud platform.

Additionally, Intellect asserts that its solutions, along with a variety of personal financial management tools, will allow its partner to onboard SMEs "in a day."

Vancity now has over 54 offices and has $35.5 billion in assets under management, serving over 550,000 "member-owners" throughout the Coast Salish and Kwakwaka'wakw areas in Canada.

Wellington Holbrook was named the credit union's new president and CEO at the start of the year. Nez Aquino, who had been acting as interim CEO since July 2023, was replaced by Holbrook.
