Unwritten, the company that was formerly known as Dovetail Finance, has raised $3.5 million in a successful seed funding round.
This London-based startup is reportedly making a name for itself in the rapidly expanding field of climate risk intelligence, according to Tech EU.
London-based Connect Ventures, a venture capital firm with a focus on software, led the funding. Along with other prominent participants like Sand River, Adapt Nation Capital, and a mix of industry and academic angel investors, they were joined by climate-focused venture capital firm Planet A Ventures.
The purpose of Unwritten's platform is to evaluate the potential effects of climate change on businesses worldwide. The company provides comprehensive insights into macroeconomic trends by modeling the interactions between various factors, including regional climates, market sectors, policy developments, and technological advancements. This is achieved by utilizing big data analytics.
The recently obtained capital is intended for the advancement of Unwritten's software for analyzing climate risk. In order to better assist investors seeking to comprehend and reduce climate-related risks in their portfolios, the company is working to improve its tools.
Furthermore, Unwritten's co-founders have a strong background in high-tech espionage analysis; they first gained experience in climate analytics at Palantir Technologies. This distinct history highlights Unwritten's strong analytical skills.
"Great analytics help people ask the right questions in the right language, to inform the decisions their organizations make," said Unwritten co-founder and CEO Amos Wittenberg about his vision for the business. Unwritten analyzes the climate shift financially, not to forecast the future but to help our clients decide how best to allocate their capital.
Unwritten had previously secured £750k in pre-seed fundraising, which prepared the ground for this significant investment in the seed round.
