Probely, a state-of-the-art Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) company based in Porto, Portugal, has been purchased by Snyk.
Probely, which is well-known for its thorough web applications and API security testing, also provides Security Headers, a popular tool that assists customers in evaluating and improving the security of their online sites.
The purchase emphasizes how important API security testing is becoming in the age of apps driven by large language models (LLMs). Now offering a wide range of development and application security solutions, Snyk instantly expands its clients' testing choices in a manner that is developer-friendly.
The strategic purchase strengthens Snyk's product line in the increasingly important application security space. Peter McKay, CEO of Snyk, stated, "Adding Probely's technology and expertise further extends the breadth and depth of Snyk's platform for global security leaders seeking to further accelerate trusted AI adoption." By encouraging a developer-first strategy that successfully combines quick innovation with strict security measures, this combination strengthens Snyk's position in the market.
Snyk is well known for its Developer Security Platform, which allows businesses to address vulnerabilities in their operational workflows by including security components straight into the development process. Probely, on the other hand, focuses on dynamic testing of web apps and APIs and provides tools that reduce false positives and make security testing easier for developers.
In addition to enhancing Snyk's platform's functionality, this purchase highlights Snyk and Probely's common goal of providing developers with safe programming tools. Through the integration of Probely's technologies with Snyk's current offerings, businesses may implement a more comprehensive defense-in-depth approach to application security.
Software Composition Analysis (SCA), Static Application Security Testing (SAST), and other security technologies are also included in Snyk's products. Probely's features will eventually be included into Snyk's platform, offering a smooth experience across the whole software development life cycle.
"Like Snyk, Probely has been laser-focused on empowering developers to build securely from day one," said Nuno Loureiro, CEO and co-founder of the company. Héctor Guillermo Martínez, President of GM Sectec, also remarked on the acquisition: “We ensure the payment security of global organizations, including critical compliance needs like PCI-DSS, and as such welcome Snyk and Probely joining forces.”
