In the run-up to EURO 2024, Alipay+ Expands to Assist European Businesses in Connecting With Asian Travelers

In anticipation of UEFA EURO 2024, of which it is an official partner, Ant International, the Asia-based one-stop digital payment and financial services platform for SMEs, is launching an international campaign to interact with fans worldwide.

UEFA EURO 2024 will visit eleven host towns around Germany from June 14 to July 14, with the finals held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

The Halle Institute for Economic Research estimates that 650,000 foreign fans will attend UEFA EURO 2024, bringing in an extra €250 million in tourism earnings.

By making more payment partner apps available in Germany and other well-known European locations, Alipay+ is extending its merchant coverage and cross-border mobile payment acceptance to guarantee that visitors to Germany and Europe for UEFA EURO 2024 have a seamless travel experience.

Users of 13 international e-wallets and bank applications may now access some of Europe's biggest travel destinations, including Germany, with the help of Alipay+.

Tens of thousands of merchant establishments around Germany, including well-known neighborhoods like Berlin's Kurfürstendamm and Munich's Hofbräuhaus and Maximilianstraße, will accept mobile payment apps that connect with Alipay Plus. On game days, supporters can pay at the host stadiums using Alipay+ payment partner applications from the comfort of their own homes.

Past EURO 2024

Travelers planning trips outside of Germany will also discover that prominent European locations like the UK, France, Italy, and Spain accept Alipay+.
 

Currently, Alipay+ links 1.5 billion accounts across over 25 top e-wallets and payment apps to over 88 million international merchants operating cross-border in 57 markets. Travelers from abroad may easily make payments using their home payment app, and businesses can use Alipay+ to access a larger client base and increase customer engagement.

Additionally, Alipay+ has introduced an in-app UEFA EURO 2024 fan area that is only available to Touch 'n Go eWallet, TrueMoney, GCash, DANA, and AlipayHK users. We will be introducing new fan interaction activities, like interactive football mini-games, in addition to themed quizzes and worldwide merchant certificates.


For the remaining fans, Antom, a global provider of payment processing services to retailers, will collaborate with partners in digital services, travel, and e-commerce to provide every fan an opportunity to win unique gifts, such as tickets to the event.
