Due to his claimed refusal to give misleading information to authorities, a former managing director of Citigroup is suing the bank and COO for illegal termination.
According to her claims, Kathleen Martin was employed by the bank in 2021 and sacked in September 2023 as a result of her accusations. She sued in federal district court in New York, claiming that COO Anand Selva gave her orders to conceal "critical information" about Citi's data governance metrics from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in order to prevent the bank from "looking bad," according to Reuters.
The measurements that Martin is said to have been requested to fabricate relate to an OCC consent order from 2020 that directed the bank to stop any shortcomings in its data governance and risk management procedures.
Martin's legal representative claimed that Martin was working in the bank's best interests and asked the court to restore her along with all of her incentives.
According to a Citigroup representative, the complaint has no merit, and they plan to fight it.
