With the help of QED Investors, Kudos has successfully raised $10.2 million in a Series A investment round for their AI-powered smart wallet and shopping assistant.
Contributors included Samsung Next, SV Angel, Precursor Ventures, The Mini Fund, Newtype Ventures, Four Cities Fund, patron Brian Kelly of The Points Guy, and Samsung Next.
Kudos is an app and browser extension that serves as a smart wallet assistant, recommending or automatically choosing the best credit card for customers to use when making payments in order to maximize their rewards and cash back. The company was founded in 2001 by a team with expertise at Google, PayPal, and Affirm.
The company recently introduced a number of new features, such as Dream Wallet, which suggests cards to members based on their spending patterns; MariaGPT, an AI-powered card discovery tool with over 3000 cards in its database; and Kudos Boost, which offers personalized rewards across over 15,000 partner brands, including Walmart and Sephora.
Kudos has expanded to over 200,000 registered customers since its seed funding round, and its annualized checkout Gross Merchandise Value has reached $200 million.
With the new capital in place, the company intends to introduce a site that lets members book flights using points, grow MariaGPT into a comprehensive personal finance assistant, and introduce an AI-powered hub that offers insights on spend optimization.
The CEO of Kudos, Tikue Anazodo, states: "As consumers manage convoluted reward programs, various credit cards, and budgets, they want to know they're receiving the best value for their money. All of that is made simple by Kudos with a single user-friendly app and extension."
