dYdX is experiencing its first significant outage since the release of its fourth version as a result of a planned update that is causing a chain halt.

Blocks were no longer being produced by the Cosmos-based dYdX Chain on April 8, just after the network's planned upgrade to version 4. The issue "continues to be investigated," the project's status page states, and it has been "agreed to reconvene with the validators around 15:00 UTC."

Mintscan data indicates that the dYdX Chain had one of its first significant outages since the dYdX ecosystem moved from Ethereum to Cosmos at approximately 6:50 a.m. UTC. The most recent occurrence was within days subsequent to Starknet, an Ethereum layer-2 solution, ceasing to generate blocks as a result of a rounding error flaw. dYdX had not yet addressed the issue in public on social media as of the time of publication.

The utility of the DYDX token was increased when dYdX released its dYdX Chain in October 2023. This allowed holders of DYDX tokens to move money from the Ethereum network to the new platform. Early in 2022, the project announced its decision to leave Ethereum, citing problems with the network's scalability.
