Taking over as group CFO in February, former Bolt CEO Johan Bergqvist was introduced as the new face of financial infrastructure provider Banking Circle.
Bergqvist has been named group leader for the "next phase of sustained, rapid, and profitable growth" of the Luxembourg-based company, which is controlled by the Swedish investment firm EQT Partners. Together with its management group and co-founders, Laust Bertelsen and Anders la Cour, this endeavor will be carried out.
The firm provides solutions for cross-border payments, card issuance, accounts, liquidity management, and revenue-based financing, among other services, to a wide range of clients, from online retailers to institutional banks. It claimed run-rate yearly payment volumes of €550 billion and run-rate revenues of €300 million for the previous year.
Although the group has "now reached significant scale, we are still early in our growth journey considering the large market white space," la Cour comments on its success.
Throughout his new role, Bergqvist is anticipated to draw on his almost two decades of industry knowledge in order to meet the group's targeted development trajectory.
With this appointment, he will have held the role of group CFO three times, having previously held the job at the UK-based paytech Teya and the transportation and delivery platform Bolt, where he remains a board member.
