The acquisition of INFODAS, a German business that specializes in offering cybersecurity and IT solutions, has been announced by Airbus Defence and Space.
Based in Cologne, INFODAS has established a name for itself, particularly in the public sector, providing services for defense and vital infrastructure requirements. This strategic shift is expected to be finished by the end of 2024, pending the customary regulatory approvals.
Airbus' cybersecurity portfolio, which is a vital part of its strategic ambition to improve the digital protection of its European and international clients, is about to get a major boost from the acquisition. In the context of growing cyber risks and increasing digitization and interconnection of Airbus systems and products, cybersecurity has become a key component of the company's development plan. In order to protect its operations, goods, clients, and the larger ecosystem it operates in—which includes well-known programs like the Future Combat Air System (FCAS)—Airbus has been steadfastly building up its cybersecurity capabilities.
With about 250 workers and an annual sales of about €50 million, INFODAS is a German company that has offices in Berlin, Bonn, Hamburg, Munich, and Mainz in addition to its headquarters in Cologne. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has recognized the company as a qualified IT security service provider. The company provides a variety of services, such as penetration testing, consultancy, and information system audits. The flagship SDoT Security Gateway product line from INFODAS, which is authorized for usage up to the "secret" classification level, is evidence of the company's dedication to cybersecurity excellence and has been further verified by its compliance with Common Criteria and holding a number of certifications relevant to different nations.
This acquisition demonstrates Airbus Defence and Space's dedication to improving cybersecurity protocols, a decision that is consistent with the growing significance of digital security in the linked and technologically dependent world of today.
