With the completion of its three-year Sustainability Game Plan, Tietoevry has announced that it will reach notable sustainability benchmarks by 2023.
The business's extensive sustainability report, compliant with GRI Standards, reveals its strategic plan and audacious goals for the future, emphasizing ethical behavior, promoting an inclusive workplace, and addressing climate change. This program demonstrates Tietoevry's dedication to improving its social and environmental impact as well as establishing a new benchmark for the tech sector's contribution to sustainable development.
Ida Bohman Steenberg, Chief Sustainability Officer of Tietoevry, emphasized the noteworthy progress the company has made in sustainability. "We have achieved notable sustainability goals, such as lowering our environmental impact and meeting our climate action commitments. Using a methodical and process-oriented approach, we have also made significant progress in the field of human rights," she said. In order to co-create sustainability-driven initiatives with clients, the 2023 game plan examined "Impact Opportunities," which was a critical step toward Tietoevry's increased sustainability impact.
The sustainability accomplishments of Tietoevry between 2021 and 2023 are admirable, especially in the areas of social sustainability, circular economy, and emission reduction. The business announced an 84% reduction in carbon emissions from its activities and a major advancement toward meeting its 2022 Science Based Targets obligations. Furthermore, Tietoevry has made significant strides in renewable energy; thanks in large part to strategic location consolidations in Sweden and the Czech Republic, 99% of the electricity used globally by the company for offices and data centers comes from renewable sources.
Tietoevry set a goal of 100% hardware reuse and recycling as part of the circularity movement, and the company was able to achieve up to 98% recycling rates for client devices. Bohman Steenberg recognizes the need for more advancement in climate action in spite of these victories. Although achieving the goal of 40% female employees by 2026 remains a challenge, Tietoevry's dedication to diversity is particularly noteworthy, with programs geared at promoting female participation in the IT industry.
Tietoevry is not resting on its laurels going forward. The business is about to unveil a new sustainability plan that will further reduce its environmental impact and use technology to assist its clients in achieving their sustainability goals. Bohman Steenberg outlined the company's future-focused sustainability objectives, saying, "In the coming years, we are committed to further minimizing our environmental footprint through the value chain and helping our customers do the same through the sound use of technology."
Achieving 99% renewable electricity in its operations, exceeding its target with an 84% reduction in energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, and making noteworthy progress toward gender equality and responsible hardware recycling are the key results for 2023, which demonstrate Tietoevry's ambition and dedication to sustainability.
